I understand that going to a counselor is a brave step and that reaching out to someone is a success in itself. By creating a safe and empathetic environment in which to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors, I use a holistic and strengths-based approach towards creating a more positive experience. I view therapy as both an art and a science; whereas the art involves connecting with the client in a meaningful way and providing an affirming and nurturing voice, the science is the use of evidence-based methods towards healing and advancement towards personal goals. I provide a space in individual therapy to those clients who are interested in engaging in a more lengthy insight-oriented therapy, as well as those who would benefit from a solutions-focused approach to cope with or resolve issues in a more expedient manner.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over twenty years of experience working clients across the lifespan. I have previously worked in the fields of special education, community mental health, and child welfare. I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Governors State University. I am a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the international honor society for professional counselors.
